First Project Down: What Remote Teamwork Taught Me in My MSAIE Program
I just wrapped my first team project in Quantic’s M.S. in AI Engineering program, and we turned it in a day early.

This was my first official project in the MSAIE Program. I worked with two teammates, all of us remote. There was no shared office and no running into each other in the hallway. We had to make it work through planning and clear communication.
How we worked
Zoom for alignment. We met on Zoom to agree on the scope, talk through approaches, and make decisions together. Divide and own. We split the work early so each person owned their piece from start to finish. Slack for everything in between. Progress updates, quick questions, and blockers all went in Slack, so nobody was waiting on a meeting to keep moving.
That rhythm kept us ahead of schedule. Submitting early wasn’t luck. It came from knowing who was doing what and checking in often.
Why this one matters to me
I’ve done plenty of solo work, including freelance builds, data analysis, and running my own projects. But this was a real taste of how distributed teams work in a business setting. You coordinate across schedules, trust your teammates to deliver, and hold up your own end. I’ve wanted that experience for a while, and now I have it.
Doing this while working full time makes it mean even more.
What’s next
One project is done and there are more to come. I’ll keep sharing what I learn as I move through the program, both the technical side and the teamwork side, because both matter in AI engineering.
On to the next one.
